VantegrateNative API integrationIntegrate RingCentral with AI agentsthat turn missed calls into conversations
Vantegrate's AI agents work on your Salesforce org and connect to your RingCentral account through its official REST API, with a JWT credential and webhooks: when a call is missed or ends, the agent picks the conversation up by SMS or WhatsApp with the customer's Salesforce context and logs the outcome. Calls stay in RingCentral; records stay in Salesforce.
How the data flows
What does it mean to integrate RingCentral with Vantegrate's AI agents?
Integrating RingCentral with Vantegrate's AI agents means calls and text messages become one conversation on your Salesforce record. Through RingCentral's official API, the agent learns about every missed or finished call and follows up by SMS or WhatsApp with the customer's Salesforce context: it answers, quotes from your price lists and logs the outcome in the CRM.
That is different from the app RingCentral offers for Salesforce, which logs calls in the CRM: the agent works the sales conversation that comes next, on the channel the customer prefers, and runs alongside that app. Calls stay in RingCentral; records stay in your Salesforce.

What moves between RingCentral, the agent and your Salesforce
The agent listens to RingCentral events in real time through webhooks and queries the API only when it needs a data point.
Missed calls, as they happen
A telephony session webhook, filtered to pass only missed calls, says who called; the agent looks the number up in Salesforce and follows up by SMS or WhatsApp.
Two-way SMS
Every text that reaches a RingCentral number triggers an event. The agent replies from its extension's number, and if the customer texts STOP, RingCentral blocks any further messages.
Call summary and activity log
With AI Conversation Expert, the agent reads the call's summary and next steps through the API; without that license, it uses the call log. The outcome lands in Salesforce.
How the integration works, step by step
Vantegrate sets up the connection and turns it on in phases; your team authorizes the permissions and validates.
Private app with a JWT credential
We create a private app in your account with the JWT flow, the one RingCentral recommends for server-to-server integrations: the credential belongs to a user, is restricted to that app and an administrator can revoke it.
Agent extension and least privilege
The agent runs on its own extension with an SMS-enabled number; the app declares only what it uses (call log, SMS, webhooks, call control), and that user's role must include it.
Events and business rules
We subscribe to the webhooks your case needs and decide which calls get a text and which a WhatsApp message, during which hours, which Salesforce data the agent uses and when it hands off to a rep.
Validation with real calls
We test with a test number or queue, within the API limits (by default, 10 call log requests per minute), validate with your team and roll out in phases.
When nobody picks up, the conversation continues by text
An unanswered call usually ends in a voicemail box or on a list someone checks hours later, after the customer has already called another supplier. With the integration, RingCentral sends a webhook the moment a call is missed, and the agent texts the customer knowing who they are and what is open in Salesforce.
The same goes for answered calls: with AI Conversation Expert, the agent uses the summary and next steps to send the proposal by text; without that license, it works from the call log, which RingCentral fills in 15 to 30 seconds after the call ends.
And the other way around: when the chat needs a human voice, the agent hands off to the rep with the summary, and the call goes out from RingCentral. See how that step is built in AI agent to human handoff.
| Dimension | Phone and text apart | RingCentral with the agent |
|---|---|---|
| Missed call | A list to check by hand | Real-time alert and a text with context |
| Context | The customer explains everything again | Salesforce and the call summary |
| Record | Call in one system, chat in another | Every conversation on the customer record in Salesforce |
| Handoff to a person | Forwarding details by email | Rep alert and a call from RingCentral |
The exact events and rules are defined with your team.
Each channel keeps its rules: starting a WhatsApp conversation takes a Meta-approved template and the customer's opt-in; texting takes an SMS-enabled number that, for US customers, is registered. The details are on the SMS integration page.
How the agent works alongside RingCentral for Salesforce and RingCentral's AI
RingCentral has its own Salesforce app, RingCentral for Salesforce: one-click calling and texting, automatic call logging, a screen pop with caller details and reporting, for RingCentral Advanced and Ultra customers on Salesforce Professional Edition or above, according to its app listing. The agent doesn't replace it: during discovery we decide what each one logs, so no activity is duplicated.
RingCentral also has its own AI: AI Receptionist answers calls 24/7 and hands off with a summary (more than 8,000 customers, according to RingCentral), and AI Conversation Expert, formerly RingSense, summarizes calls and suggests next steps. The agent covers a different stretch: the sale that continues by text, with your prices, your inventory, payment and the order in Salesforce.
If your contact center handles WhatsApp in RingCX through RingCentral's official connector, during discovery we decide which number and which conversations the agent handles, so no customer gets two replies.
RingCentral also publishes MCP servers, in preview or beta, and plugins for ChatGPT and Claude, so each person can connect their own account to an AI assistant (RingCentral). They are built for one user's assistant; an agent that acts for your company uses the REST API with a server credential and least-privilege permissions.
| RingCentral piece | What it does | What the agent adds |
|---|---|---|
| RingCentral for Salesforce | One-click calling and automatic logging | The follow-up by text and its outcome |
| AI Receptionist | Answers calls and hands off with a summary | The sale by text, with prices and payment |
| AI Conversation Expert | Transcribes, summarizes and suggests next steps | Uses that summary as context |
| RingCX WhatsApp connector | WhatsApp inside the contact center | We agree which number each one handles |

RingCentral is a third-party product: Vantegrate integrates through its public API, and everything already working in your account stays as it is.
Texting US customers from RingCentral: 10DLC registration and consent
Before a RingCentral local number can text US recipients, RingCentral requires an approved brand and campaign registration with The Campaign Registry; only numbers linked to an approved campaign are enabled for SMS, and toll-free numbers go through a separate verification (RingCentral developer guide). RingCentral notes that approval may take up to four weeks (RingCentral support), so registration goes at the start of the project.
The registration also sets your volume: a low-volume campaign allows up to 6,000 messages a day across all your numbers to US carriers. Once texts flow, if a customer replies STOP, RingCentral blocks further messages from that number until the customer texts START, and the app can read the opted-out numbers through the API (RingCentral). The general SMS rules, including TCPA consent, are on the SMS integration page.
The registration is in your company's name: the brand and campaigns belong to your RingCentral account, and we map each use case (missed-call follow-up, quotes, reminders) to its campaign before the first message goes out.

An agent connected to your RingCentral vs. a standalone tool
| Standalone AI tool | Agent connected to your RingCentral | |
|---|---|---|
| Data source | A copy that drifts | RingCentral and Salesforce, queried live |
| Where your data lives | In a third-party system | Calls in RingCentral, records in your Salesforce |
| Result of each conversation | Stuck in another app | Logged on the customer record in your Salesforce |
| Permissions and audit | Broad and hard to audit | Least-privilege permissions and a log of every action |
| Reaching production | Often stalls as a pilot | Validated, phased rollout |

AI comes to your data, not your data to the AI: the agent reads only what it needs from RingCentral and logs the outcome in Salesforce. RingCentral publishes its own ISO 27001 certificate and SOC 2 report (RingCentral's certifications).
- Connection through RingCentral's official REST API with the JWT flow: a user-owned credential, restricted to the integration's app and revocable by an administrator.
- Least privilege: RingCentral requires the app to declare each permission and the user's role to hold it, so the app can never do more than the person who authorizes it.
- Calls, recordings and texts stay in your RingCentral account; every action the agent takes is logged in Salesforce.
- The agents run on Salesforce or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, whose SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications belong to those platforms, not to Vantegrate or RingCentral.
Frequently asked questions about the RingCentral integration
What sales, service and IT teams ask before connecting an AI agent to RingCentral.
How do I integrate RingCentral with an AI agent?
How do I integrate RingCentral with an AI agent?
Through a private app in your RingCentral account that uses its official REST API and the JWT flow, which RingCentral recommends for server-to-server integrations. The app subscribes through webhooks to the events your case needs (missed calls, inbound texts), and the agent picks up each conversation by SMS or WhatsApp with the customer's Salesforce context. Vantegrate sets up the connection; your team authorizes the permissions and validates. Meet the sales agent at Sellium.
Does the agent replace RingCentral for Salesforce or RingCentral's AI?
Does the agent replace RingCentral for Salesforce or RingCentral's AI?
No. RingCentral for Salesforce keeps logging calls and texts; AI Receptionist answers the phone and AI Conversation Expert summarizes calls. The agent works the conversation that continues by text: it answers, qualifies, quotes with your Salesforce data and logs the outcome. During discovery we define what each piece writes to Salesforce, so no activity is logged twice.
Can the agent text from our RingCentral numbers?
Can the agent text from our RingCentral numbers?
Yes, from an SMS-enabled number assigned to the agent's extension or to one of its queues: RingCentral only sends from numbers assigned to the authenticated extension. For local US or Canadian numbers it also requires an approved brand and campaign registration (10DLC). If a customer replies STOP, RingCentral blocks further messages. More on the SMS integration page.
What can Metrix answer about our calls?
What can Metrix answer about our calls?
Using RingCentral's Business Analytics API, for RingEX customers, Metrix answers in plain English how many calls were missed, abandoned or sent to voicemail, by queue, person or site, up to 184 days back. It is historical analytics, not a live wallboard, and each user sees only what their role allows. Meet the data agent at Metrix.
Can the agent follow up with US customers on WhatsApp?
Can the agent follow up with US customers on WhatsApp?
Yes, when the customer is on WhatsApp, which 32% of US adults use, rising to 56% among Hispanic adults (Pew Research Center, 2025). Meta doesn't deliver WhatsApp marketing templates to US (+1) numbers (Meta), though conversations the customer starts are not affected. So for US numbers the missed-call follow-up goes by SMS by default, and WhatsApp takes over when the customer writes to you there or has a number outside the US. More in the WhatsApp integration.
