Integrate Marketo with AI agentsthat talk through your funnel in plain English
Vantegrate's AI agents connect to your Adobe Marketo Engage instance through its official API: they read your funnel, your programs and the scores of your leads, and tell you in plain English how each campaign is doing. No reports built by hand and no data pulled out of Marketo.
How the data flows
What does it mean to integrate Marketo with Vantegrate's AI agents?
Integrating Marketo with Vantegrate's AI agents means that an agent connects to your Adobe Marketo Engage instance through its REST API and works with your real funnel: it reads leads, activities, programs and scores, and answers in natural language about how each campaign is doing. The connection uses OAuth 2.0 with the credentials of a Custom Service, limited to what you authorize.
That's different from exporting spreadsheets and building reports by hand every week. The agent checks the current data in your instance and answers the specific question of the moment: how many MQLs a program generated, which emails had the best open rate, which sources bring in the leads with the highest scores. Your marketing data stays in your Marketo: the agent reads it, it doesn't take it anywhere.

What data moves between Vantegrate and your Marketo
The agent works on the objects of Marketo Engage through its REST API: it reads your funnel, your programs and the activity of each contact to answer what you ask, in real time.
Leads, score and attribution
The agent reads your Leads (Persons) with their fields and their score, and matches them with their source program to show where your best-quality contacts come from.
Activity and engagement
It reads the Activities of each contact (email opens, clicks, visits, form submissions, score changes) to measure the health and the engagement of every campaign.
Programs and their members
It goes through your Programs and their Program Members with their status, so you can compare the conversion of one program against the previous one without building the report by hand.
How the integration works, step by step
Vantegrate handles the setup and rollout. Your marketing team authorizes, validates and starts asking.
Custom Service in LaunchPoint
You create a Custom Service in Admin > Integration > LaunchPoint with an API-Only user and narrow permissions. That's where the client_id and the client_secret of the connection come from.
Connection over OAuth 2.0
We connect over 2-legged OAuth 2.0 against your Identity URL: we request an access token with an expiration, cache it and renew it only when it expires.
Reading the funnel
We define which objects the agent reads (Leads, Activities, Programs and their scores) and, for large volumes, we use the Bulk Extract API instead of going call by call.
Questions with real data
We test with your instance and your real campaigns, validate the answers with your marketing team, and roll out in phases.
Asking your funnel in natural language versus building reports by hand
To find out how a campaign is doing, the usual path is to export leads and activities, cross-check them in a spreadsheet and build the report. Delays creep in, versions drift out of sync and questions go unanswered because redoing the report takes too much work. The agent queries your Marketo instance through its API and answers the specific question, with current data, right when you ask.
The difference shows in the team's day-to-day work: instead of asking someone to pull the numbers, you ask how many MQLs this week's program generated or which emails had the best open rate, and the agent reads Leads, Activities and Program Members and gives you the answer. It works against the same source of truth as your marketing team, with no static reports in between.
| Dimension | Report exported by hand | AI agent on Marketo |
|---|---|---|
| How you ask | Someone has to pull the numbers | In natural language, instantly |
| Connection | Export to a spreadsheet | OAuth 2.0 against the REST API |
| Data freshness | A snapshot from the day of the export | Current data from the instance |
| Volume | Manual export that gets truncated | Bulk Extract API for large volumes |
| Editing | You edit the spreadsheet | Read-only on the funnel, doesn't touch campaigns |
Comparison of patterns; the exact scope is defined with your team based on your instance, your programs and your permissions.
Your data stays in your instance: the agent reads your Marketo through the API; it doesn't move your database anywhere else. The connection uses the narrow credentials of an API-Only Custom Service, and every query respects the permissions you define.

An agent connected to your Marketo vs. a standalone tool
| Standalone AI tool | Agent connected to your Marketo | |
|---|---|---|
| Data source | A copy that drifts | Your source of truth, live |
| Where your data lives | In a third-party system | In your environment, encrypted end to end |
| Result of each operation | Stuck in another app | Written back to your Marketo |
| Permissions and audit | Broad and hard to audit | Least-privilege scope and an audit trail |
| Reaching production | Often stalls as a pilot | Validated, phased rollout |

Which agents run on your Marketo
Every product in the suite uses the same integration through the official API: it works with your instance's data in real time and logs the result where it belongs.

The principle is simple: AI comes to your data, not your data to the AI. The agent reads your Marketo through the official API, with the narrow credentials you authorize, and the agents run on certified cloud infrastructure.
- Connection through the official Marketo REST API with OAuth 2.0 and the credentials of an API-Only Custom Service, with no scrapers and no fragile bridges.
- The agent reads your funnel, your programs and your scores; your marketing database stays in your Marketo instance.
- Access limited by the least-privilege permissions of the API-Only user, with traceability of every query.
- The agents run on Salesforce or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, whose SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications belong to those platforms, not to Vantegrate, Adobe or Marketo.
Frequently asked questions about the Marketo integration
What marketing and IT teams usually ask before connecting an AI agent to their Marketo instance.
How do I integrate Marketo with an AI agent?
How do I integrate Marketo with an AI agent?
Through a connection to the official Adobe Marketo Engage REST API using OAuth 2.0. The credentials (client_id and client_secret) come from a Custom Service you create in Admin > Integration > LaunchPoint, with an API-Only user that has narrow permissions. The agent reads your funnel, your programs and the scores of your leads, and answers you in plain English. Vantegrate handles the setup; your team authorizes, validates and starts asking. How do I authenticate against the Marketo API?
How do I authenticate against the Marketo API?
With 2-legged OAuth 2.0 (grant_type client_credentials): you send the client_id and the client_secret of the Custom Service to your Identity URL and get back an access token with an expiration. That token has to be cached and renewed when it expires; every call to the API carries it.
Can the agent edit my Smart Campaigns or Smart Lists?
Can the agent edit my Smart Campaigns or Smart Lists?
No. The agent works on your funnel in read mode: it reads Leads, Activities, Programs and scores to answer, but it doesn't modify your campaigns or your lists. Marketo's standard public REST API doesn't offer a way to rewrite them either: through it, the rules of a Smart List and the flow steps of a Smart Campaign can't be edited.
Does my marketing data leave Marketo?
Does my marketing data leave Marketo?
The agent reads your instance through the API; it doesn't copy your database anywhere else. Your data on leads, activities and programs stays in your Marketo, and access uses the narrow credentials of an API-Only user and is logged. The principle is that AI comes to your data, not your data to the AI.
