Integrate Magento with AI agentsthat sell on WhatsApp

Vantegrate's AI agents connect to your store through the Magento API: they check your catalog, stock and orders to sell and support customers on WhatsApp, and log every customer and conversation where it belongs. Your data stays in your own Magento installation.

The short answer

What does it mean to integrate Magento with Vantegrate's AI agents?

Integrating Magento with Vantegrate's AI agents means that an agent, such as the sales agent on WhatsApp, connects to your store through the Magento API and works with real data: it checks products and stock to quote, reads an order's status to follow up and registers the new customer. The connection uses the tokens and permissions you generate in your Magento admin.

That is different from copying your catalog into a spreadsheet or answering by hand. The agent checks the live data in your Magento at that moment, so it doesn't quote an out-of-stock product or promise an old price. Your store and customer data stays in your installation: the agent queries it without taking it anywhere, and you define the resources it can access when you create the integration.

online

Hi, I want to integrate Magento with AI agents.
What syncs

What data moves between Vantegrate and your Magento

The agent works on the standard endpoints of the Magento API: it reads your catalog and orders to answer, handles the conversation in the chat and registers the customer where it belongs, with the resources you authorize.

Catalog, categories and stock

The agent looks up your products, categories and prices to answer questions and quote, and checks your inventory before offering something you don't have.

Orders and customers

The agent reads your orders, filtered by customer, to share their status and shipping updates, and registers the new customer in the destination you define.

Only what you authorize

When you create the integration in your admin, you assign the resources the agent can read and write. Scoped permissions: no more and no less than the use case requires.

How it connects

How the integration works, step by step

Vantegrate handles the setup and rollout. Your team authorizes, validates and starts using it.

1

Integration in your admin

You create the integration in the Magento admin and assign the API resources the agent can access. That's where the credentials the connection uses come from.

2

Connection through the API

We connect to the Magento REST or GraphQL API with those credentials. No scrapers and no spreadsheets in between, against your store's standard endpoints.

3

Mapping your catalog

We define which products, categories and order data the agent uses to answer, quote and follow up on WhatsApp.

4

Validation with real data

We test with your real catalog and orders, validate with your team and roll out in phases.

Through the API, not by hand

API integration vs. exporting spreadsheets

Not every way of connecting a store works the same. Exporting spreadsheets or copying your catalog into another tool creates data that goes stale: the agent ends up quoting an old price or an out-of-stock product. An integration through the Magento API checks the live data at that moment, with no parallel copies that drift.

The difference shows up in every conversation: the agent verifies current stock and price before it answers and reads the order status to follow up, instead of depending on the last export. Magento exposes REST and GraphQL, and the integration works against those standard endpoints with the resources you authorize.

PermissionsFull access to the exportThe resources you assign to the integration

Comparison of integration patterns; the exact scope is defined with your team based on your store and your permissions.

Your data stays in your installation: the agent queries your Magento through the API without moving your database anywhere else. You assign the resources it can access when you create the integration, and access stays limited to what the use case needs. Payment handling stays in your store, not in the integration.

Adobe Commerce

Adobe Commerce, the commercial edition of Magento

Adobe Commerce is the paid edition of Magento, the one Adobe sells with support and with features that Magento Open Source doesn't include. Both share the same API framework, according to Adobe's developer documentation, so the agent connects the same way: over REST or GraphQL, with the integration you create in your admin and the resources you assign to it.

What changes is what there is to read. Adobe Commerce's B2B features (company accounts, shared catalogs with customer-specific prices, negotiable quotes and purchase orders) also have REST endpoints, so the agent can quote at each buying company's price. And changes in your store can be reported in near real time with Adobe I/O Events, something Magento Open Source handles with an extension or by polling the API.

You set the scope: if your store uses the B2B features, the agent works with them under the same permissions you assign to the rest of the integration. What you don't authorize, it doesn't read.

Your data, your store

The integration doesn't take your data anywhere

The principle is simple: AI comes to your data, not your data to the AI. The agent queries your Magento through the API, with the resources you authorize, and Vantegrate's agents run on certified cloud infrastructure.

  • Connection through the Magento API (REST or GraphQL), with the credentials of the integration you generate in your admin, with no scrapers and no spreadsheets in between.
  • The agent queries your catalog and orders; your customer base stays in your own Magento installation.
  • Access limited to the resources you assign to the integration, with least-privilege permissions for the use case.
  • The agents run on Salesforce or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, whose SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications belong to those platforms, not to Vantegrate or your store.
Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the Magento integration

What e-commerce teams usually ask before connecting an AI agent to their store.

How do I integrate Magento with an AI agent?

Through a connection to the Magento API (REST or GraphQL). First you create an integration in your admin and assign the resources it can access; with those credentials the agent checks your catalog, stock and orders to sell and support customers on WhatsApp. Vantegrate handles the setup and rollout; your team authorizes, validates and starts using it. Learn about the sales agent in Sellium.

How is the Magento integration authenticated?

Magento authenticates with a token (a Bearer token you request from the API) or by creating an integration in the admin, which issues credentials over OAuth 1.0a (Magento's native OAuth is 1.0a, not 2.0). Admin tokens expire after 4 hours and customer tokens after 1 hour by default, and both lifetimes are configurable. On Magento 2.4 or later, admin two-factor authentication is factored in when the token is generated.

Does it connect through REST or GraphQL?

Magento exposes both: REST covers the full set of admin operations and GraphQL is more efficient for the storefront. The integration works on the current version of the API, depending on the use case. With either one, access stays limited to the resources you assign to the integration.

Does my customer data leave Magento?

The agent queries your store through the API; it doesn't copy your database anywhere else. Your customer and order information stays in your Magento installation, and access uses the resources you authorize and stays scoped. The principle is that AI comes to your data, not your data to the AI.
