Integrate Gong with AI agentsthat follow up on every call by SMS or WhatsApp

Gong records and analyzes your team's calls and meetings. Vantegrate's AI agents connect to your account through Gong's public API: the sales agent follows up by SMS or WhatsApp on what each call agreed, answers the customer until the next meeting and logs every step in your CRM and in Gong.

The short answer

What does it mean to integrate Gong with Vantegrate's AI agents?

Integrating Gong with Vantegrate's AI agents means that when a call Gong recorded ends, an agent reads the summary, the next steps and the linked CRM opportunity through Gong's public API, then keeps the conversation going with the customer by SMS or WhatsApp. What happens in that thread flows back to your CRM and to Gong, so the rep walks into the next meeting knowing what was said.

Gong already covers the call: it records it, transcribes it, summarizes it and drafts the follow-up email. The agent covers what happens between one call and the next: the pricing question after hours, the missing document, the request to move the meeting. It connects with an API key created by a Gong tech admin.

Hi, I want to integrate Gong with AI agents.
What syncs

What moves between the agents, Gong and your CRM

The agent reads what each call left in Gong and writes the outcome of the text conversation where your team already works.

Calls analyzed by Gong

Through the API, the agent reads each call's brief, key points and the next steps Gong detects, along with the participants and the CRM account and opportunity the call is linked to.

A notice when a call ends

A Gong automation rule sends the data of every new call that matches its filters to the agent's URL, signed with a JWT the agent verifies with Gong's public key.

Conversation progress in the CRM and in Gong

The summary of each conversation goes to the CRM as an activity on the opportunity, and milestones, such as a proposal request, go into Gong as digital interactions through its API.

How it connects

How the integration works, step by step

Vantegrate handles the setup and rollout. Your team authorizes, validates and starts using it.

1

API key

A Gong tech admin creates the API key the agent uses, with an expiration date and restricted to the agent's IP addresses. If the admin deletes it, Gong cuts off access right away.

2

Webhook rule in Gong

We set up an automation rule that sends the agent only the calls you care about, such as discovery calls or demos, with the JWT signature turned on. The rule applies to new calls, not to past ones.

3

Channels and templates

We connect the agent's SMS and WhatsApp numbers and set up the approved templates needed to message a customer first, always with their opt-in.

4

Testing with real calls

We test with your team's real calls, measure usage against the API quota and turn flows on one at a time, starting with a single sales team.

After the call

From Gong's call summary to the customer's phone: what the agent does

Gong records the call, transcribes it and builds a summary with key points and next steps (Gong). With an automation rule, available on Gong Foundation, Gong sends the agent the data of every new call that matches your filters, along with the linked CRM account and opportunity (Gong).

With that, the agent texts the customer by SMS or WhatsApp with what was agreed: the material the rep promised, the confirmation of the next meeting or the question that was left open. If the customer replies, the agent keeps the conversation going with your rules and your sales information, and when something needs a person's call, such as a discount or a change in scope, it hands off to the rep with the full context.

When the conversation wraps up, the agent logs the summary in the CRM as an activity on the opportunity and records the milestones in Gong as digital interactions, the API Gong offers to bring in buyer interactions a seller sometimes doesn't see (Gong).

Reference flow; which calls trigger the agent, what it writes and where are defined with your team.

When the customer hasn't written first: WhatsApp requires an approved template to start a conversation outside the customer service window, and the customer must have agreed to receive messages. During discovery we define those templates and which calls use them. For US numbers, that first message goes by SMS (see the United States section below).

The record

How the text conversation shows up in your CRM and in Gong

Gong integrates natively with Salesforce, HubSpot and Microsoft Dynamics: it imports accounts, contacts and opportunities, and exports the calls and emails it captures to the CRM (Gong). The agent writes to that same CRM: the activity with the conversation summary and the opportunity fields we agree on, such as the next step. Gong sees a change to a CRM record in up to 6 minutes, so its deal boards and its forecast pick up the new data without anyone typing it in.

In Gong, the agent uses the Digital Interactions API, built mainly for technology partners and also open to customers, which records an event with the person, the action and the content. Those events go to Gong's activity timeline, so the rep sees that the customer asked for the proposal by text even though that conversation wasn't a call.

If your team uses Gong Engage, the agent can also add the person to one of your flows through the API, for example when they ask for the proposal by email (Gong).

What it doesn't do: the WhatsApp conversation doesn't enter Gong as a recorded call or as a text message. Gong captures SMS through telephony integrations such as Dialpad or Zoom Phone; the full WhatsApp thread lives in your CRM.

What Gong already has

Agents, Gong Engage and Gong MCP: what an agent that talks to your customers adds

Gong has its own AI. Its Agent Studio brings together agents that summarize accounts and deals, answer questions about conversations, review calls, monitor deal signals and project the forecast (Gong), and after a recorded call Gong drafts the follow-up email (Gong). Its automated agents fire on a CRM change, a date or a signal detected on a call, and can send an internal email, post in Slack or add a contact to a flow (Gong).

Gong Engage, its sales engagement tool, builds flows from emails, calls, LinkedIn messages and tasks (Gong). And Gong's official MCP server lets assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot ask about an account or a deal and generate briefs: it's read-only, doesn't return transcripts and consumes Gong credits (Gong; Gong).

All of that works for your team, inside Gong. Vantegrate's agent works at the other end: it talks to the customer by SMS, WhatsApp or web chat at any hour, with your rules, and sends the outcome back to the CRM and to Gong.

How they coexist: if you already use Gong's automated agents, during discovery we define what triggers each one, so a single event never sends the same customer two follow-ups.

United States

Gong in US revenue teams: recorded calls, texted follow-ups

For a US team, the text follow-up after a call can go by SMS or by WhatsApp. WhatsApp is used by 32% of US adults (Pew Research Center, 2025), so it works next to SMS, not instead of it, and the agent answers on both. Meta doesn't deliver WhatsApp marketing templates to US phone numbers (Meta), so for US numbers the first message after a call goes by SMS by default, and WhatsApp takes over when the customer writes to you there or has a number outside the US. Anyone sending SMS from an application over a local 10DLC number must register for A2P 10DLC (Twilio).

Recording and texting follow different rules. Gong's help center notes that call recording is subject to consent laws that differ by location, and that when the customer is in a different state or country, the stricter law typically applies (Gong); Gong handles that with its consent settings. The agent doesn't record calls: it texts, with the customer's opt-in and, for SMS, a registered campaign.

Texting US numbers: the setup of SMS numbers and the A2P 10DLC registration carriers require is covered in the SMS integration.

Your data, your account

The integration doesn't take your calls anywhere

AI comes to your data, not your data to the AI: the agent reads from Gong what it needs for each follow-up and writes the outcome to your CRM and your Gong account.

  • Connection through Gong's public API, with a key created by a tech admin at your company, no scrapers or exports.
  • The agent only processes the calls your Gong rule sends it. According to Gong, the key gives access to your company's Gong data through the public API, so we ask for it to be created with an expiration date and restricted to the agent's IP addresses (Gong).
  • Gong publishes its own SOC 2 Type II report and its ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 42001 certifications in its help center; they belong to Gong.
  • The agents run on Salesforce or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, whose SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications belong to those platforms, not to Vantegrate or Gong.
Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the Gong integration

What sales, RevOps and IT teams usually ask before connecting an AI agent to Gong.

How do I integrate Gong with an AI agent?

Through Gong's public API, which the company offers on any of its plans. A Gong tech admin creates the API key the agent uses, and an automation rule notifies the agent when a call that matches your filters ends. The API allows 3 calls per second and 10,000 per day per company, and you can ask Gong's support team to change them. Vantegrate handles the setup; your team authorizes, validates and starts using it. The sales agent is Sellium.

Does Gong connect to WhatsApp or SMS?

According to its help center, Gong captures calls, meetings, emails and the text messages that come in through telephony integrations such as Dialpad and Zoom Phone, and Gong Engage flows combine emails, calls, LinkedIn and tasks. Holding the conversation with the customer on SMS or WhatsApp, qualifying them and handing off to a rep is the job of Sellium, which uses the official WhatsApp Business Platform, also works over SMS and logs every step in your CRM and in Gong.

Do I need Gong's MCP server to use the agents?

No. Gong's MCP server lets assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot query your accounts and deals: it's read-only and returns answers and briefs from Gong's AI, not transcripts (Gong). Vantegrate's agent uses the public API, which delivers each call's data and lets it record interactions. The two can coexist in the same account.

Does the agent replace Gong's follow-up email?

No, they do different jobs. After a recorded call, Gong drafts a follow-up email from the transcript, which the rep reviews and sends (Gong). Vantegrate's AI agent takes the text side: it follows up by SMS or WhatsApp, answers the customer's replies until the next meeting and logs the result, so the email and the text thread end up on the same deal.

Does it work if my team's calls are in Spanish?

Yes. Gong transcribes and analyzes calls in more than 70 languages, including Spanish from any country, according to its help center. The agent reads the brief and next steps of that call and texts the customer in their language, with the tone and rules your team sets.
