Agentforce pricing and total cost, explained by a Salesforce partner

You can pay for Agentforce per conversation, with credits or per user, and the model you pick changes the math. This guide builds scenarios on the list prices Salesforce publishes, so you reach the conversation with your account executive knowing what to ask.

The short answer

How much does Agentforce cost?

According to Salesforce's pricing page, Agentforce is priced three ways: $2 per conversation for agents that serve customers, Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000 (each agent action uses 20 credits, or $0.10 per action) or per-user licenses for employees, with add-ons at $125 per user per month for unmetered use. Sales and Service Cloud editions include credits, and the top one, Max ($550), also includes the add-on. The rule of thumb: a $2 conversation costs the same as 20 actions on credits, so if your conversations use fewer actions, credits come out cheaper.

The list price is only part of the total cost. You also need the Salesforce licenses the agent runs on, Data 360 (which Salesforce lists as a requirement for its generative AI), implementation, administration and, if the channel is WhatsApp, that channel's cost. Below we build it into scenarios, with the assumptions in view.

Criteria

  • List price of each model, as Salesforce publishes it.
  • Cost per scenario: customer conversations, internal use by employees and editions.
  • What the list price leaves out: base licenses, data, implementation and channels.
  • When to switch models, depending on volume and actions per conversation.

The models

Agentforce's pricing models, one by one

Salesforce publishes six pieces that combine with each other. These are the list prices and what each one is for.

Salesforce Foundations

$0 · the starting point

No cost for Salesforce customers, according to the pricing page. It includes the tools to build agents, such as Agentforce Builder, Prompt Builder and Agent Script, plus Agentforce Coworker, Agentforce Vibes and a limited amount of Flex Credits and Data 360 credits. It is required to use Flex Credits.

When it fits: designing and testing agents before paying for usage, with your team or with a partner.

Conversations

$2 per conversation · agents that serve customers

A fixed price per conversation for customer-facing agents, regardless of the actions the agent runs inside it. Salesforce presents it as the flat-pricing model. On WhatsApp and on web chat with a signed-in user, Salesforce Help counts one conversation per 24-hour window. It cannot be combined with Flex Credits in the same org.

When it fits: customer service with long conversations or many actions each, where you want a predictable cost per conversation.

Flex Credits

$500 per 100,000 credits · per action

Each action an agent runs uses 20 credits (30 for a voice action): $0.10 per action at list price. You can buy them pay-as-you-go, with a minimum commitment or upfront, and track usage in a digital wallet. Unused credits do not roll over to the next period.

When it fits: agents with few actions per conversation or variable volume, and internal use with the user license.

Agentforce User License

$5 per user per month · employees

Lets an employee use Agentforce, with access to a limited set of CRM objects; each action is paid separately, with Flex Credits.

When it fits: internal teams that use agents now and then, without justifying an unmetered add-on.

Agentforce add-ons

$125 per user per month · unmetered use by employees

Add-ons for Sales, Service and Field Service at $125 per user per month, and for Industries clouds at $150, with unmetered Agentforce usage for the employees who have them.

When it fits: teams that work with agents all day: at list prices, they pay off from about 1,200 actions per person per month.

Core, Advanced and Max editions

From $195 per user per month · CRM with credits included

Sales Cloud and Service Cloud editions include Flex Credits per org per year: 500,000 in Core ($195 per user per month), 1 million in Advanced ($395) and 2.75 million in Max ($550), which also includes the Agentforce add-on. The Agentforce page calls Max Agentforce Max; its FAQ and Salesforce's earnings releases call it Agentforce 1 or Agentforce One.

When it fits: companies renewing or expanding Salesforce that want the CRM and Agentforce usage in one contract.

US list prices from Salesforce's Agentforce pricing page, which notes that the information is subject to change. Add-ons and editions are contracted with Salesforce; pay-as-you-go (PayGo) and minimum commitment (Pre-Commit) apply only to Flex Credits.

Scenarios

What each model costs, scenario by scenario

Our own calculations on list prices. Actions per conversation and per person are assumptions: the real number comes from a pilot, and it is the figure that moves the math the most.

Break-even: 20 actions per conversation$2 per conversation$2 per conversation (20 × $0.10)Not applicable
20 sales reps with 300 actions eachNot applicable$700 (20 licenses at $5 + 6,000 actions)$2,500 (20 × $125)
20 sales reps with 1,500 actions eachNot applicable$3,100 (20 licenses at $5 + 30,000 actions)$2,500 (unmetered)

List prices from Salesforce's Agentforce pricing page (US dollars). They exclude Sales or Service Cloud licenses, Data 360, implementation and the channel's cost if it is WhatsApp, and they do not subtract the credits Core, Advanced and Max already include. An org uses either conversations or credits, not both at once.

How to choose

Five questions to pick the model

The right model depends on who talks to the agent and how much work it does in each conversation. These five questions sort the decision before you negotiate.

1

Who talks to the agent?

If it is your customers, you choose between paying per conversation and paying with credits. If it is your employees, between the $5 license with credits and the unmetered add-on.

2

How many actions does a conversation use?

It is the number that moves the math the most: with fewer than 20 actions per conversation, credits come out cheaper than the fixed $2; with more, the per-conversation price wins. Measure it in a pilot; do not assume it.

3

How predictable is your volume?

Credits can be bought pay-as-you-go, with a commitment or upfront, and the ones you do not use do not roll over. If you go over, there is no penalty: the overage is billed at your contracted rate, monthly in arrears.

4

What sits under the list price?

The agent runs on Salesforce licenses you already have or need to add, and on Data 360. On top of that come implementation and administration, which depend on the scope of each project.

5

Which channel will it talk on?

On the web or in your app, the cost is the model you picked. On WhatsApp, Service Cloud's enhanced messaging is paid separately on Core and Advanced, as are outbound messages; on voice, each action uses 30 credits instead of 20.

Where Vantegrate fits: as a partner, we measure actions per conversation in a pilot before you pick the model, implement the agent and leave it running. If your sales go through WhatsApp with orders that land in the ERP, we add Sellium, which runs in the same Salesforce org. More on our Salesforce page.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about Agentforce pricing

What a Salesforce team asks before choosing how to pay for Agentforce and taking the cost to the board.

How much does Agentforce cost per month?

It depends on the model and the usage. At list price, a service agent costs $2 per conversation or $0.10 per action with Flex Credits; for employees, $5 per user plus credits, or an add-on at $125 per user with unmetered use. Sales and Service Cloud editions include credits, from 500,000 a year in Core to 2.75 million in Max. For the total cost, add the base licenses, Data 360 and implementation.

What is an Agentforce Flex Credit?

It is the unit Salesforce uses to meter Agentforce usage. Credits cost $500 per 100,000 and each action an agent runs uses 20 of them (30 for voice), so an action costs $0.10 at list price. Credits you do not use in the period do not roll over to the next one.

Should I pay per conversation or with Flex Credits?

It depends on how many actions each conversation uses. A $2 conversation equals 20 actions on credits: if your agent resolves with fewer, credits come out cheaper; if each conversation chains many actions, the fixed price wins. One org cannot use both models at once, and you can move from conversations to credits by replacing the products you contracted.

Is there a free version of Agentforce?

Salesforce Foundations is listed at $0 on the pricing page and includes tools to build agents, such as Agentforce Builder and Prompt Builder. It is for designing and testing; production usage is paid with one of the models above.

What does Agentforce's list price leave out?

The Salesforce licenses the agent runs on (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud or others), Data 360, implementation, administration and channels with their own cost, such as WhatsApp messaging. That is why it pays to build the full first-year cost instead of comparing only the price per action.

What happens if I go over my contracted usage?

According to Salesforce's FAQ, there is no overage penalty: the excess is billed at the contracted rate, monthly in arrears. What you do need to keep in mind is that unused credits do not carry over to the next period.

Does Agentforce work on WhatsApp?

Yes: it is deployed on Service Cloud's enhanced messaging channels, WhatsApp included, and each 24-hour window counts as one conversation. According to Service Cloud's pricing page, enhanced messaging is a $75 per user per month add-on on Core and Advanced and is included in Max; outbound WhatsApp messages also need a message-credits add-on. If you want to sell on WhatsApp with quotes and orders that go to the ERP, see Agentforce on WhatsApp.
