Integrate Adyen with AI agentsthat collect with Pay by Link on WhatsApp
Vantegrate's AI agents connect to your Adyen account through the official Checkout API: when a deal closes, they create the payment link with the order amount and reference, share it in the WhatsApp conversation and, once Adyen confirms the payment by webhook, update your CRM. Card details are entered on Adyen's page, not in the chat.
How the data flows
What does it mean to integrate Adyen with Vantegrate's AI agents?
Integrating Adyen with Vantegrate's AI agents means the agent that serves your customer on WhatsApp creates the payment link with Pay by Link when the deal closes, instead of someone building it by hand in the dashboard. It connects through the Checkout API with its own credential, and an Adyen webhook tells it whether the payment was authorized or failed.
That's different from pasting a generic link into the chat. The agent builds each link with the order amount, currency and reference, knows whether it's active, paid or expired, and records the result in your CRM. The customer pays on Adyen's secure page with the method they prefer: card details don't pass through the conversation.

What data moves between Vantegrate and your Adyen account
The agent works with the standard resources of the Checkout API: it creates the link, listens for the webhook that confirms the result and checks the status when the customer asks, with no manual entry.
Payment links with amount and reference
Sellium creates the payment link with the amount in the sale's currency and the order reference, and sets the page language (English, Spanish or Portuguese) to match the conversation. If the order changes, it expires the previous link and sends a new one.
Authorized or failed, by webhook
Adyen reports the result with the AUTHORISATION webhook, which carries the link ID and the payment ID. The agent updates the opportunity or the order in your CRM and, if the payment failed, picks the conversation back up with the customer.
Each market's payment methods
Adyen's page shows the most popular methods in the customer's country first. Through the API, Pay by Link takes cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Cash App Pay, Affirm and Klarna, plus Pix in Brazil or OXXO in Mexico, depending on what your account has enabled.
How the integration works, step by step
Vantegrate handles the setup and rollout. Your team authorizes, validates and starts using it.
A dedicated credential for the agent
A web service user is created in your Customer Area just for the agent, with its API key in the x-API-key header and only the roles it needs to create and check links. Adyen suggests separate credentials for tighter control over permissions.
Payment rules
We define with your team what the agent can charge: amounts, currencies, allowed payment methods and how long each link stays open (unless told otherwise, Adyen expires it after 24 hours). Before the first live link, your team adds its terms and conditions URL.
Signed webhooks and CRM
We set up the endpoint that receives the webhooks, with its HMAC key to verify that every notification comes from Adyen, and we map where each payment is recorded in your CRM.
Test first, then live
We test with Adyen's test cards in your test account, validate with your finance team and go live with a new API key and a new HMAC key, as Adyen requires.
Pay by Link inside WhatsApp: from order to confirmed payment
Adyen built Pay by Link for getting paid after a conversation: among its use cases, it lists customers paying after talking to the business through chat, email or social media (Adyen). Building each link by hand in the dashboard works for a few orders; at volume, someone ends up copying amounts, chasing expired links and telling sales what got paid.
With the agent connected, the link comes straight from the sale: Sellium creates it through the API with the order amount and reference, shares it in the chat and waits for the webhook. If the customer changes the order, the agent expires the previous link and sends a new one, as Adyen suggests so two links aren't left open. If the customer asks whether the payment went through, the agent checks the link status instead of passing the question along. The full flow is in collecting payments on WhatsApp.
Adyen also makes clear that Pay by Link supplements an online store's checkout rather than replacing it (Adyen). The agent covers the sales that close in a conversation; your web checkout stays the path for customers who buy without talking to anyone.
| Dimension | Link built by hand in the dashboard | Agent connected through the Checkout API |
|---|---|---|
| Creating the link | Someone copies the amount and reference | Comes from the order, with amount, currency and reference |
| Order changes | Two links stay open | Expires the old one and sends a new one |
| Payment result | Someone checks the dashboard now and then | AUTHORISATION webhook signed with HMAC |
| Customer question | Handed off to finance | The agent checks the link status |
| CRM record | Entered by hand, with a delay | Automatic, as soon as Adyen confirms |

Before the first live link: Adyen requires your terms and conditions URL in the payment link settings of your Customer Area, because the payment page shows it. We review it with your team during discovery.
Adyen's MCP server, Adyen Agentic and where a Vantegrate agent fits
Adyen publishes an official MCP server, still in alpha (GitHub): a developer runs it locally with an API key and asks their AI assistant, in plain English, to create a payment link, check its status or issue a refund (Adyen). Adyen recommends giving it a dedicated web service user, with only the roles the chosen tools need (GitHub).
Adyen Agentic targets something else: selling through third-party conversational AI platforms. Adyen describes it as compatible with Meta's AI checkout, backs protocols such as OpenAI's Agentic Commerce Protocol and at launch offered it in limited availability to enterprise merchants operating in the US, with global expansion planned (Adyen).
A Vantegrate agent works in your own channel: it serves your customers on WhatsApp, SMS or web chat around the clock, quotes with your prices and creates the link in your Adyen account, with a scoped credential and a log of every operation. It doesn't replace the MCP server or Adyen Agentic: it handles the sale that starts in a conversation with your company.
Refunds, on your terms: Adyen's MCP server includes refunds, and so does the API. During discovery we decide whether the agent only takes the refund request and hands it to your team, or can process it up to a set amount.

An agent connected to your Adyen vs. a standalone tool
| Standalone AI tool | Agent connected to your Adyen | |
|---|---|---|
| Data source | A copy that drifts | Link status, checked live in Adyen |
| Where your data lives | In a third-party system | Payments in your Adyen account, results in your CRM |
| Result of each payment | Stuck in another app | Logged in your CRM by webhook |
| Permissions and audit | Broad and hard to audit | A dedicated credential with minimal roles |
| Reaching production | Often stalls as a pilot | Validated, phased rollout |

Adyen's figure covers its whole platform worldwide, not just Pay by Link. Pew's figure measures US adults who say they use WhatsApp. Chatarmin measures the e-commerce brands on its own platform (173 in cart abandonment flows) and notes the sample isn't representative of e-commerce as a whole. That flow doesn't apply to US customers: a cart reminder is a marketing template (Meta), and WhatsApp doesn't deliver marketing templates to US phone numbers (Meta).
Which agents run on your Adyen account
All three use the same Checkout API connection: each one does only its own part with links and payments.
Sellium
Sales agent: answers on WhatsApp, quotes and, when the deal closes, creates the Adyen payment link with the order amount and reference. When Adyen confirms the payment, it tells the customer and logs the sale.
Explore SelliumRevio
Outbound marketing agent: when a link expires unpaid, it picks the conversation back up with a new link, within WhatsApp's template rules and each customer's consent. Marketing templates don't reach US phone numbers.
Explore RevioMetrix
Data agent: your team asks in plain English how many links were paid, which ones expired and which payments are still pending, based on what Adyen reported by webhook and through the API.
Explore MetrixThe integration doesn't take your payments anywhere
The principle is simple: AI comes to your data, not your data to the AI. The agent works on your Adyen account through the official API, with a credential your team can rotate or disable.
- Connection through the Checkout API with a dedicated web service user; when you generate a new API key, the old one stays active for 24 hours, so rotating it doesn't interrupt payments (Adyen).
- The customer enters card details on Adyen's page: the agent and the conversation never see the card number. Adyen states that it is a PCI DSS Level 1 Service Provider, assessed every year by an independent auditor (Adyen).
- Every webhook arrives signed with HMAC, and the agent verifies that Adyen sent it and that it wasn't modified in transit.
- If a card is stored for future purchases, it's done with the customer's consent, as Adyen advises, and with a reference that doesn't include their name or email.
- The agents run on Salesforce or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, whose SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications belong to those platforms, not to Vantegrate or Adyen.
Frequently asked questions about the Adyen integration
What sales and finance teams usually ask before connecting an AI agent to their Adyen payments.
How does the agent collect payments with Adyen inside WhatsApp?
How does the agent collect payments with Adyen inside WhatsApp?
With Pay by Link through the Checkout API: when the deal closes, the agent creates the link with the order amount, currency and reference, sends it in the conversation and the customer pays on Adyen's page. The AUTHORISATION webhook reports whether the payment was authorized; the agent logs it in your CRM and confirms it to the customer. Learn about the sales agent in Sellium.
Does the agent see card details?
Does the agent see card details?
No. The customer enters them on Adyen's payment page, which opens from the link; neither the chat nor the agent receives the card number. The agent works with the link ID, the payment ID and the result. According to Adyen, the security of card data is its responsibility from the moment it receives the data, in a PCI DSS Level 1 environment (Adyen).
Which payment methods can customers use from the link?
Which payment methods can customers use from the link?
The ones enabled on your Adyen account that Pay by Link supports: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Cash App Pay, Affirm, Klarna and Afterpay, plus Pix and Boleto in Brazil, OXXO in Mexico and card installments, among others (Adyen). Pix requires a local entity in Brazil. ACH Direct Debit is the exception to watch: the link doesn't validate the bank account or show the mandated authorization text, so Adyen says ACH links are non-compliant for consumer payments and should be used only for B2B payments.
Does Pay by Link replace my store's checkout?
Does Pay by Link replace my store's checkout?
No, and Adyen says so: Pay by Link shouldn't be an online store's only way to accept payments, but a supplement to its checkout (Adyen). The agent covers the sales that close in a conversation: questions, wholesale orders, carts that need an answer. If you also take payments with Stripe in some markets, during discovery we decide which gateway the agent uses in each case.
Can the agent collect payments from US customers on WhatsApp?
Can the agent collect payments from US customers on WhatsApp?
Yes, in the conversations your customers start. WhatsApp reaches 32% of US adults and 56% of Hispanic adults (Pew Research Center), so it works best as one more channel next to your web checkout, email and SMS. What doesn't reach US numbers is marketing: WhatsApp doesn't deliver marketing templates to US phone numbers (Meta). A payment link the agent shares in a conversation the customer started is part of that conversation, not a campaign.
